FuelShift Privacy Policy
Complete transparency on how your fuel logs, vehicle profiles, and on-device AI scans are protected. Last updated: August 23, 2026.
🛡️ 1. Overview & Architecture
FuelShift ("we", "our", or "the app") provides vehicle expense management, on-device AI receipt parsing, EcoDrive™ efficiency scoring, tax deduction record keeping, and gamified logging rewards. Our technical architecture is designed with local data isolation as the default.
📋 2. Information You Provide & Stored Locally
FuelShift processes only information necessary to provide vehicle analytics:
- Fuel & Energy Entries: Date, timestamp, fuel volume (litres, gallons, kilograms for CNG, or kWh for Electric Vehicles), unit price, total transaction amount, vehicle odometer reading, fuel type, and optional notes.
- Vehicle Profiles: Make, model, manufacturing year, vehicle category (car, motorcycle, SUV, commercial van, truck), nickname, and fuel tank capacity.
- Maintenance Records: Service types (oil changes, brake service, tire rotation, battery, AC service, custom repairs), cost, service dates, workshop notes, and target odometer triggers.
- Business & Tax Categories: Classification flags (Personal vs. Business/Gig), business purpose categories (e.g., rideshare, courier, client visits), and calculated deduction method parameters.
- EcoDrive™ & Reward Metrics: Computed 0–100 EcoScores, ARAI/EPA comparison ratios, weekly streak counts, and FuelTokens™ reward balances.
- Preferences: Currency selection (₹, $, €, £, etc.), distance units (km or miles), volume units, and appearance settings.
💾 3. Local Storage (SQLite)
All core vehicle logs, maintenance schedules, and analytics reside inside a private local SQLite database on your device hardware. This ensures zero network latency, complete offline availability, and strict isolation from external networks.
📸 4. On-Device AI Receipt Scanning (OCR)
When you use the AI Receipt Scanner, image processing and optical character recognition (OCR) are performed 100% on-device using Google ML Kit machine learning models. The photo and extracted values (amount, volume, price per unit, station name, date) are parsed directly on your phone's processor. No raw receipt imagery is transmitted to third-party AI APIs for processing.
☁️ 5. Optional Cloud Backup & Multi-Device Sync (Pro)
For users who upgrade to FuelShift Pro and create an account, data can be securely backed up to our encrypted cloud servers. This service enables multi-device synchronization and optional remote receipt photo backup. All cloud data is protected by industry-standard encryption, strict authentication tokens, and account-isolated access policies.
💳 6. In-App Purchases & Subscriptions
Subscription payments for FuelShift Pro are processed through official platform store mechanisms:
- Apple App Store: Managed via Apple StoreKit and RevenueCat.
- Google Play Store: Managed via Google Play Billing and RevenueCat.
We use the RevenueCat SDK to verify subscription entitlement status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID and receipt validation tokens. FuelShift never collects, stores, or sees your credit card number or bank details.
📍 7. Location & Station Intelligence
FuelShift allows you to tag the name and brand of fuel stations to compare prices. If you grant location permission, your location is used momentarily solely to suggest nearby stations or tag an entry. We do not perform persistent GPS tracking, background location surveillance, or location data broking.
🔔 8. Notifications & Reminders
Scheduled reminders for maintenance due dates, periodic fuel reminders, and weekly streak notifications are scheduled through local operating system notification channels. You can adjust or disable specific reminder channels at any time in Settings.
🚫 9. Analytics, Ads & Third-Party Trackers
FuelShift does not contain advertising SDKs, cross-app tracking beacons, or data broker integrations. We collect only aggregated, non-personally identifiable diagnostic telemetry provided natively through the Apple App Store and Google Play Console to monitor stability.
🗑️ 10. Data Retention, Export & Deletion
- Export: You can export your entire fuel and maintenance history at any time as standard CSV or PDF reports from the app settings.
- Local Deletion: You can wipe all local vehicle data instantly via Settings → Delete All Data or by uninstalling the application.
- Cloud Account Deletion: Pro users can request full cloud account and remote record deletion directly within the application settings or by emailing our support desk.
👶 11. Children's Privacy
FuelShift is designed for licensed drivers and vehicle operators. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 (or under 16 in applicable European jurisdictions).
🔄 12. Policy Updates
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically to reflect new features or regulatory requirements. Material modifications will be indicated by the "Last Updated" timestamp at the top of this document.
